MICHAEL B. HOFFMAN
CHAIRMAN
Mr. Michael Hoffman is a managing director of Riverstone Holdings LLC, where he is principally responsible for investments in power and renewable energy for Riverstone's funds. Before joining Riverstone in 2003, Mr. Hoffman was senior managing director and head of the mergers and acquisitions advisory business of The Blackstone Group for 15 years, where he also served on the firm's principal group investment committee as well as its executive committee. Prior to joining Blackstone, Mr. Hoffman was managing director and co-head of the mergers and acquisitions department at Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. Mr.Hoffman serves on the boards of Topaz Power, Bottle Rock, Coastal Carolina, Green Earth Fuels, CNAA, Collingwood and ThermaSource. He is a co-author of the recently released book, GREEN. His non-profit board affiliations include those of Lenox Hill Hospital, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and the Municipal Arts Society. Mr. Hoffman received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Northwestern University and his M.B.A. Degree from the Harvard Business School.
HENRY S. BIENEN, Ph.D.
Dr. Henry Bienen has served as the 15th president of Northwestern University since 1994. He was the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor and Dean of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University prior to his appointment at Northwestern. He began his association with Princeton University in 1966, advancing from assistant professor to professor of politics and international affairs, and then appointed the William Stewart Tod Professor of Politics and International Affairs in 1981 and the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor in 1985. Dr. Bienen has been a visiting professor at Makerere College in Kampala, Uganda (1963-65), at University College in Nairobi (1968-69), at Columbia University (1971-72), and at the University of Ibadan (1972-73). He received the University of Chicago Professional Achievement Alumni Award in 2000 and the 2008 Niagara Peace & Dialogue Award from the Niagara Foundation in 2008. Dr. Bienen received his Bachelor's Degree with honors from Cornell University and his Master's Degree and Ph.D., both from the University of Chicago.
RAMESH KUMAR, Ph.D.

Dr. Ramesh Kumar is a co-founder of Onconova. He received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and trained at the National Cancer Institute. He has held positions in R&D or management at Princeton University, Bristol-Myers Squibb, DNX (later Nextran, a subsidiary of Baxter) and Kimeragen (later Valigen), where he was President of the Genomics and Transgenics Division. Dr. Kumar has more than 50 publications spanning the areas of molecular oncology, transgenic animals, gene therapy and recombination. He is an inventor in 8 U.S. patents and many patent applications. He co-edited the 1993 book "Molecular Basis of Human Cancer".
VIREN MEHTA, Pharm.D.
Dr. Viren Mehta, Managing Member of Mehta Partners, has over thirty years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, investment research, strategic advisory services, and asset management. Prior to founding Mehta and Isaly, where he pioneered an in-depth valuation methodology for biotechnology companies, Viren was a part of the strategic planning team of the International Division at Merck & Co. Dr. Mehta earned a Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Southern California, and an M.B.A. Degree from the Anderson School of Business at the University of California, Los Angeles.
PANKAJ R. PATEL
Mr. Pankaj Patel is the Chairman and Managing Director of Zydus Cadila, one of India's leading pharmaceutical groups. With a vision to emerge as one of the top ten global generics player by 2010 and a global research-driven company by 2020, the group has been consolidating operations globally, particularly in Europe and in the U.S. A pharmacist of repute, Mr. Patel has rich expertise in manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceuticals and active pharmaceutical ingredients. He is one of the few second-generation professionals who combine both research and techno-commercial expertise. Mr. Patel holds a Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences and has published 35 research papers in leading Indian as well as International Journals on research and development in the field of drugs and pharmaceuticals.
K. RAVINDRA
Mr. K. Ravindra holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and an M.B.A. Degree from the Indian Institute of Management. He joined ICICI Limited in April 1988 and worked for over 12 years in the Corporate Credit function. He joined ICICI Venture Funds Management Company Limited in September 2000, where he handles a portfolio of ICICI Venture’s earlier investments in small and medium enterprises across multiple sectors and has been responsible for generating exits from a number of these investments over the years, thus monetizing value for the Funds. Currently, he is the Chief Risk Officer of ICICI Venture, responsible for establishing investment evaluation and monitoring processes, assessing and mitigating business risks at the individual investment and portfolio level, and providing investment advisory and transaction structuring support to the investment teams across all Funds managed and advised by ICICI Venture.
E. PREMKUMAR REDDY, Ph.D.
FOUNDER, LEAD SCIENTIFIC ADVISOR
Dr. Premkumar Reddy is a renowned scientist with a specific interest in molecular oncology. He is the Professor, Department of Oncological Sciences & Department of Structural & Chemical Biology, Mount Sinai School of Medicine
New York. Dr. Reddy is a pioneer in the understanding of the molecular basis of cancer and the development of novel anticancer strategies. He is the author of more than 200 publications and several dozen patent applications. He founded Onconova Therapeutics in 1998. He is a co-editor of the international journal of cancer research, Oncogene, published by Nature Publishing Group. Among Dr. Reddy's many accomplishments are the co-invention of a diagnostic procedure used in HIV AIDS testing and the novel drug candidates being developed by Onconova.
ALAN R. WILLIAMSON, Ph.D.
Dr. Alan Williamson has extensive experience in pharmaceutical discovery. He served as Vice President of Basic Research and Vice President, Research Strategy Worldwide, for Merck. Previously he was with Glaxo, UCLA, University of Glasgow, and the National Institute for Medical Research, U.K. He is the recipient of the Colworth Medal of the Biochemical Society and a member of the EMBL. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1976 and Fellow of the Institute of Biology in 1982. Dr. Williamson sits on the board or scientific advisory board of several companies in addition to Onconova, including Argenta Discovery, Devgen and Solexa. He is a consultant to the venture capital firm Abingworth Management Ltd.
